YORUBA YOUTHS GROUP PAY COURTESY VISIT TO OLU OF IGBOORA, DISCUSS ROLE OF YOUTHS IN NATION-BUILDING

A foremost Yoruba Socio-Cultural Youth Group, Yoruba Council of Youth Worldwide (YCYW) was on Saturday, 13th November, endorsed by the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye, during a courtesy visit of the group to the Royal Father at his Palace.

Aare Alawode Rahman Akintunde while introducing members of the entourage, noted that the membership strength of the group is in millions and it’s spread across the state.

The monarch in his speech declared his support for the group in its quest to emancipate Yoruba race and commend the group for the innovative idea of bringing up the group despite the fact that majority of today’s youths engaged in social vices.

Speaking at the occasion, the Oyo State President of the group, Aare Alawode Rahman Akintunde, appreciated the Monarch for the warm reception of the group members by the monarch.

He said “we appreciate Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye, for finding time in his busy schedule to attend to the group. While noting the fact that he supposed to have led some delegates to the palace since but unable to come due to a reason or the other, he briefly talk about the aims and objectives of what the group entails and mentioned some of their life touching achievements since emergence of the group.

Akintunde reiterated the monarch on the core mandate of the group, is to foster unity among Yoruba Youth and defend the right of all Yoruba men or women wherever they may be.

He further emphasised on the role of youths in nation-building, he said:” for the Yoruba nation to be great, her youths must project her positive image to the world.

The Monarch, however, charged the group to use unparallel intellectual while engaging the government or the general public, he therefore pray and bless the members and the group.
