REVEALED: HOW OYO STATE SPEAKER; DEBO OGUNDOYIN GOES AGAINST JUSTICE, BYPASSES NBTE LAW

Our correspondent had earlier reported how Oyo State Speaker, Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, on Tuesday, ordered the immediate reversal of the appointment of Dr. Akinteye Olugbade Adewuyi, an Igboora born as the Acting Rector of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa.

Ogundoyin, who is an indigene of the hosting institution, has therefore directed the withdrawal of the letter of appointment already issued to Akinteye on Friday 10th September 2021 to favor Mr Adejumo who hails from Eruwa.

The development, according to some sources in Ibarapa land, would definitely create a major division amongst the towns that made up of Ibarapa if they don’t allow justice to reign.

Debo who had earlier promised the Eruwa Elders Forum that he will do everything to ensure they have Eruwa indigene as rector called for urgent meeting with the institution govering council and ordered replacement of Igboora born Akinteye despite it’s against the Conditions of Service for Nigeria Polytechnics as contained in National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Chapter Ten Cap (e)” that acting appointment shall be for a period of six months in the first instance and could be reviewed for another final period of six months which Mr. Adejumo has satisfied as he already serve twice in acting capacity.

There are several questions surrounding this embarrassing situation as reported by our sources:

1. Can the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly act in Executive capacity of the Governor who is the Visitor to the Institution issue an order to reverse a Statutory Governing Council’s decision?

2. Can a Council decision be reversed on order of a Legislator without a statutory Council meeting?
