Hon. (Dr.) Adepoju Adebayo Anthony, Member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ibarapa North/Central Federal Constituency, received Miss Olapegba Bisola Fehintola in Abuja on Thursday 28th of November 2024 to celebrate her induction into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria. Miss Fehintola recently graduated from Ryazan State Medical University, Ryazan, Russia, and her accomplishment has been hailed as a source of pride for the constituency.

The lawmaker expressed his joy and recounted his pivotal role in advocating for Nigerian medical students affected by the Russia-Ukraine war. On July 25, 2023, Hon. Adepoju raised a motion urging the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to reconsider its stance on recognizing the medical certificates of 2022 Nigerian graduates from Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of preventing the waste of time and resources and was pleased that the issue was resolved, allowing many students to progress in their medical careers despite the challenges posed by the war.

Miss Fehintola was accompanied by her proud parents and Prince Akinyemi Akintayo, who led the delegation to the National Assembly. Prince Akintayo took the opportunity to commend Hon. Adepoju for his proactive leadership, humility, and impactful representation in the House. He also highlighted areas requiring further attention, including projects that could elevate the development of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency.

During the meeting, Prince Akintayo passionately advocated for the establishment of a terrestrial radio station or a Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) branch in the Ibarapa region just like Oyo, Ogbomoso and Saki. He stressed the critical need for such a facility to enhance access to information, preserve the history and culture of the area, and create job opportunities. He stated that such a project would be instrumental in ensuring optimal societal functionality and placing the region on the national map.

Hon. Adepoju assured the delegation of his commitment to serving the constituency and welcomed their feedback and suggestions. “As a government, we will continue to identify with individuals and initiatives that bring pride to our constituency and position it where it deserves to be,” the lawmaker said.

In his closing remarks, Prince Akintayo expressed gratitude on behalf of Miss Fehintola and her family for the lawmaker’s warm reception and unwavering support. “This honor and your proactive attention to our constituency’s progress mean a lot to us. We look forward to more constituency project facilitation, empowerment programs, and your efficient representation in committee capacities,” he added.

The occasion underscored Hon. Adepoju’s dedication to his constituency, as he suspended committee meetings to celebrate this remarkable milestone, showcasing his commitment to fostering growth and development in Ibarapa.
