OYO STATE GOVERNMENT HAILED ADEDIGBA FAMILY ON RENOVATED IGBOORA GENERAL HOSPITAL

The Oyo State Governor, Eng. Seyi Makinde has applauded the gesture of the late Atilola Adedigba family who on Friday, 30th August 2024 handed over a remodeled and renovated Igboora General Hospital in memory of the late Ibarapa Icon, phillantropist and reputable Public servant , late Alhaji Adetonwa Atilola Adedigba.

Speaking through the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Ike Agwazim thanked the Adedigba family and the Igboora Community for the laudable multi-million naira project for the service of humanity.

According to Agwazim:

“Today is a great day and I am very excited to be here. I welcome you to the General Hospital Igboora and a place where Twins is being created. I know you have come for the good of the hospital and good of Ibarapa land”.

Speaking on behalf of the Oyo State Governor, the Chairman Oyo State Health Management board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi appreciate the Adedigba family for what he described as a “Huge support” to the health sector of the state which will go a long way assisting major bottlenecks of Oyo State Health sector and Nigeria in general. He urged various individuals and corprate bodies to join hands with the Government in solving developmental issues.

The Chairman of the Occasion and Chief Imam of Gbagura, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun in his remarks, acknowledged the good gesture of the Adedigbas. He admonished individuals present at the event to live a pious and faithful life, just the way the late Alhaji Atilola Adetonwa Adedigba lived, ended well and still celebrated in death.

According to him:

” I thank you the Children of Alhaji Adedigba for sustaining the good legacy he left behind. I implore us all to take good care of our children, so as to sustain our good legacy when we are gone.”

The guest lecturer of the event, Sheikh Mudathir A. Bada prayed for the repose soul of the late Icon, his immediate family and the entire Igboora Community who have been propagating the image since his demise.

In his short lecture, he urged every individuals to always do good for a good reward in this life and thereafter citing Quran chapter 10 vs 62-64. He referenced the citation of the late Alhaji Atilola Adedigba whom he described as someone who rose up as nothing, but ended as something great.

In his remarks, the executive chairman of Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Olusola Adeleke was full of praises to the Adedigba dynasty for their philanthropic roles during the lifetime and demise of the late Icon. He traced the history of the hospital which he described as Ibarapa heritage that should not be neglected for posterity.

Hon. Adeleke highlighted the significance of the project as a legacy in honour of Pa (Alhaji) Jimoh Atilola Adedigba as he expressed gratitude to the Adedigba family, acknowledging their immense contributions to the development of Ibarapa Central.

Adeleke reffrenced efforts of community philanthropists such as Chief Amos Olasupo Adegoke, Dr. Olayonbo Awojobi, Alhaji Busari Ayegbajeje Akinlabi, Pa Adekiitan Adigun Salami, and the most recent benefactors, the Adedigba family, who continue to drive progress in the community. The Chairman noted that Alhaji Jimoh Atilola Adedigba played a pivotal role in manpower development, offering employment in both the private and public sectors, and helping shape the structure of Ibarapa.

The Council Boss commended the Adedigba family for their contributions across various spheres of life, including skill acquisition programs, relief material provision during the COVID-19 era, installation of solar streetlights, sinking of motorized boreholes, and sponsorship of religious pilgrimages.

As a sign of appreciation, the Igboora Community presented award of appreciation to the family to recognize the emense contribution of the family towards the development of the community. According to Chief Oje Morakinyo who made the presentation on behalf of Igboora Community :

” Igboora Community appreciate the Adedigba family for the multi-million naira project given to us in Igboora, we pray for them and the repose soul of late Alhaji Jimoh Atilola Adedigba”.

In the same vein, the late Alhaji Atilola Adetonwa Adedigba family has described the newly remodeled and renovated Igboora General Hospital as symbol of hope, care, and compassion to Ibarapa race.

Handling over the facility to the Oyo State Government through the Oyo State Hospital Management board, Alhaja Adepeju Adedigba Giwa, who spoke on behalf of the family acknowledged the supports of individuals, Oyo State Government and Igboora who has involved in the project, describing their contributions valuable.

She described the edifice as symbol of hope, beacon of health and wellness, that has been providing quality medical care and services to Ibarapa community.

According to Adepeju:

“Today marks a momentous occasion as we, the Adedigba family, proudly hand over this community hospital to the people it was built to serve. We are thrilled to see this vision become a reality and are grateful for the support and collaboration that has made it possible.

“This hospital is more than just a building; it’s a symbol of hope, care, and compassion. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when we work together towards a common goal.

“We envision this hospital as a beacon of health and wellness, providing quality medical care and services to our community. We hope it will be a place where lives are improved, and futures are brightened.

“As we hand over this facility, we entrust it to your care, knowing that it will be a valuable resource for generations to come. We urge you to utilize it wisely and ensure its continued growth and development.

“Thank you to everyone involved in this project. Your contributions have been invaluable.

“Let us celebrate this milestone together, knowing that we have created something truly special.

“Congratulations, and may this hospital bring joy, health, and prosperity to our community!” Adepeju concluded.

Family members at the event include the Matriarch of Adedigba family and the widow of the late Icon, Alhaja Wasilat Adedigba, Mr. & Mrs Kunle Adedigba, Alhaji & Alhaja Wasiu Sumbo Adedigba Adebisi, Alhaji & Alhaja Adepeju Giwa, Grandchildren, Alhaji Hassan Okunade and several members of the family

Personalities at the event included the Chairman, Oyo State Health Management Board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, Provost of University of Ibadan College of Medicine, Prof. T.O Ogundiran, Executive Chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Sola Adeleke, former Chairman, Council of Ibadan Indegenes, Chief Bayo Oyero, Chief Dr. Oje Morakinyo, Chief (Mrs) Adeyoola Ojo, Olori (Alhaja) Amudat Akinyemi, friends of the hospital Islamic clerics lead by the Chief Imam of Igboora, Alhaji Yisau Alobalowo, Rev. Dr. Famose, Igboora indigenes and personalities within and outside Ibarapa land.

Traditional rulers include the Royal host and the Olu of Igboora, His Majesty Oba Jimoh Titiloye, Onidere of Idere, Oba Kingsley Aderoju, Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Ariwoola Aako, Asawo of Ayete, Oba Ewuola, Elempe of Tapa, Oba Titiloye Oyekanmi, Onisaganun of Saganun, Babaaso of Igbole, Onidofin of Idofin and representative of Oluaso of Iberekodo.

The late Alhaji Atilola Adetonwa Adedigba was a self – made man who grew up from a humble beginnings and died a remarkable phillantropist, religious leader and Community leader.

It will be recalled that the late Icon was recognised post-humously by Asako Multimedia on December 26, 2021.
