YOUR VICTORY IS NOT AN OPPORTUNITY, BUT A CALL TO SERVICE,’ IBARAPAKAN, DEMOLA OJO URGES ADELEKE, AKOREDE, AROGUNDADE, COUNCILLORS-ELECT

Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju and the Hon. Commissioner for Trade and Investment in Oyo State, Otunba Ademola Obafemi Ojo, has described the results of the 27th April 2024 local government election in Oyo State held in Ibarapa Central, Ibarapa East and Ibarapa North as a result of pre- election rigorous campaigns, general acceptability and testament to the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) dominance in Ibarapa Land and Oyo State as a whole.

In a separate Congratulaory messages to Hon. Sola Adeleke, Ibarapa Central Chairman-elect, Hon. Lateef Akorede, Ibarapa North Chairman-elect, Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, Ibarapa East Local Government Chairman – elect, their Vice-chairmen-elect, and all the 30 councillors-elect in the three local government areas, the duo described the pronouncement by the OYSIEC as record-breaking victories recorded by the PDP which they tagged to have resulted to the rigorous campaigns by the party in the buildup to what they described as the keenly contested election and the fantastic developmental work the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluwaseyi Makinde.

Congratulating the winners through a statement made available to Asako news, by the special adviser to Him. Dr. Anthony Adepoju (Ibarapa kan) on media and publicity, Hassan Olaoniye dated Sunday, April 28, 2024, Ibarapakan congratulated the elected local government officials and enjoined them to be magnanimous in victory.

According to Ibarapa kan:

“While celebrating these victories, ensure that you show humility, respect and kindness towards the opponent or those who may have supported the opposing side. The gesture not only demonstrates sportsmanship and respect for those who may have lost in this election, but it also strengthens our hard-earned democracy”, he urged.

The Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Federal Character, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Nigeria-Romanian Friendship Group, advised the elected officials to use their victory as a catalyst to advance Governor Makinde’s 2.0 agenda, which has driven Oyo State’s development since 2019.

In his personal congratulatory message, the Oyo State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Otunba Ademola Ojo appreciated residents of the three local governments in Ibarapa land for trooping out enmass to vote all the candidates of the PDP which he described as the voice of the people as ordained by God.

According to Ademola Ojo:

“I thank our people of Ibarapa land by standing by their words, they stood by the mandate of the people’s governor, H.E Eng. Seyi Makinde.

“You have upholded your confidence in this Government, and I assure you, this administration and the local government will not take this for granted.

“I congratulate the three local government chairmen – elect and all their counsellors. Their Election should not be taken as opportunity, but rather a call to service”, Ojo concluded.

It will be recalled that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) had on Sunday, 28th April announced the candidates of the People’s Democratic Party in the three local governments in Ibarapa as winners of the local government Chairmanship seats.

Hon. Sola Adeleke, PDP Candidate for Ibarapa Central was announced by OYSIEC to have scored 14, 124 to emerged Chairman-elect against his APC opponent who polled 3,500 votes.

Hon. Lateef Akorede, PDP Candidate in Ibarapa North was also announced by OYSIEC to have scored 17,307 to emerged Chairman-elect against his APC opponent who polled 6,963 votes.

Hon. Kazeem Arogundade, PDP Candidate in Ibarapa East Local Government was also announced by OYSIEC to have scored 13,896 to emerged Chairman-elect against his APC opponent who polled 1,606 votes.
