Ibarapakan mourns Late Ibarapa North Local Government Boss, Ogunjimi; describe his demise “fall of an iroko tree in the forest”.
Member representing Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Hon. (Dr.) Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, has expressed deep grief over the sudden death of the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Solomon Oluwole Ogunjimi.
The Chieftain of the PDP and Commissioner in the State Civil Service Commission representing the Ibarapa region passed away in the early hours of Tuesday, January 30, 2024.
Commiserating with the deceased family, entire Ayete community, and the PDP in Ibarapa Land and Oyo State on Tuesday, Ibarapakan said Chief Ogunjimi’s death is shocking, lacerating, mind-blowing and very difficult to comprehend.
According to the lawmaker, the late Oluwole was a father figure, a political colossus whose stint on earth was marked with selflessness and struggle for human and community development.
“No one can question God; Baba’s death is poignant and an example of the evanescence of life. As we fondly did, I was on calls with him five times yesterday discussing the affairs of our constituency and the state at large.
“He was a father to me; his demise is indeed the fall of an iroko tree in the forest, which has left a huge void that will be difficult to fill so soon,” he said.
In his condolence message made available to Asako news, dated 30th January, 2024 signed by his media aide, Hassan Olaoniye, the Deputy Chairman House Committee on Federal Character said that truly, death is a quotidian phenomenon, noting that the nature of Chief Ogunjimi that the constituency continues to mourn has not only robbed Oyo State but Nigeria as a whole of the profundity of his unparalleled knowledge that would have contributed in no small measure to the country at large.
Elder Ogunjimi was a good Christian and a public servant par excellence; he used every opportunity he had in the public service, such as Executive Chairman Ibarapa North LGA and Member, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, among others, to bring true development to his people, both human and infrastructure-wise, and to say his service to humanity would be missed is an understatement.
“Baba has gone to the Lord, and it is very sad to accept the fact that every encounter with him has suddenly become a memory, but we are consoled by his relentlessly humble service to those he knew and those that he didn’t even know,” the lawmaker commiserated.
