IGBOORA TWINS FESTIVAL BEGINS WITH FUNFAIR

 

Activities marking 2023 edition of World Twins festival in Igboora, globally known as “Home of Twins” kick- started on Monday, 9th October, 2023.

 

The global event themed: Twinning for Community development” started with world press conference held at the Igboora Community Hall where Traditional and opinion leaders addressed pressmen on issues sorrouding the mysery of Twin birth.

 

Each of the Traditional rulers lead by the Olu of Igboora and Chairman Ibarapa Central Local Government traditional council, His Majesty Oba Jimoh Titiloye answered each germaine and technical questions mainly on history and tradition sorrouding the mysery.

 

According to the Olu of Igboora, “we can not say the exact cause of the multiple birth here in Igboora, research is still ongoing, but our believe is that it is a blessing from God bestowed on us”.

 

According to Babaaso of Igbole, Oba Joshua Ojo, who coroborated the Olu of Igboora :” Twins birth here is our own natural resources , we thank God for the blessing.”

 

The Oluaso of Iberekodo, Oba Jamiu Badmos in his opening remark highlighted each activity involve in the event ranging from Press conference, Quize competition among Twins, football match, Cenima, confirment of honorary Chieftaincy and the grand finale at Methodist grammar school, Sagaun Igboora on Saturday 14th October. He urged all sons and daughters of Igboora to show sense of encouragement by taking part in the development.

 

The Onisaganun of Sagaun, Oba Fasasi Jinad while explained the doctrine behind the relationship between Twins and Monkeys. He said :”Twins and Monkeys have things in common, reason why it is a taboo for some twins to eat Twins”.

 

Set of Twins in six schools participated in the quiz competition on day 2 of the event (Tuesday,10th October) having Lajorun High school coming first, Lasogba High school second and Methodist grammar school coming behind third.

 

Football friendly match was held on the third day with mixture of Male and Female Twins in funfair. The match which was successfully held on Wednesday, 11th October at the Methodist grammar school football pitch joyfully ended 1-1.

 

The festive activity continues on Thursday with Cinema show at the Igboora town hall.
