The management of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa (AOPE) has reassured students that the long-awaited Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) disbursement will commence next week, following delays caused by the recent accreditation exercise and the JAC strike.

According to the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC), Oyo State, AOPE is the only polytechnic in Southwest Nigeria that has successfully secured the loan for its students. However, due to institutional processes, beneficiaries are yet to receive their funds. The school has, however, confirmed that the funds are intact and will be distributed as soon as academic activities resume.

Meanwhile, other institutions in Oyo State have begun receiving their disbursements. Emmanuel Alayande University of Education (EAUED) and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) started payment on Thursday and Friday, respectively, with the second batch set for next week. However, challenges such as incorrect account numbers, name discrepancies, and unverified student information have hindered a smooth process. Some students who used OPAY and PALMPAY accounts have been advised to complete the necessary procedures to access their funds.

For Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), disbursement is yet to commence as the Rector was recently at the NELFUND office in Abuja, working on the process. However, the JAC strike prevented the bursar from confirming approval. The Rector has since returned and promised to provide updates once school activities resume on Monday.

To ensure all AOPE students benefit from the scheme, the school management has extended the deadline for late fee payments until the end of the month, allowing beneficiaries to receive their funds and decide on their usage.

NANS JCC Oyo State has urged students to ensure their details are correctly entered to prevent further delays. They also emphasized that concerns regarding discrepancies in disbursed amounts must be backed with verified evidence from students’ loan portals before official action can be taken.

NANS JCC leadership remains committed to ensuring that students at AOPE and other institutions in the state receive their rightful entitlements without manipulation or shortchanging.
