As the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for 52,000 applicants who applied for teaching job in Oyo State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB) which started on Monday 22nd July ends today, 26th July 2024, investigation carried out by Asako news confirmed that there was a very low turnout of applicants who applied for the job.

This signals a very blurring hope for rottening basic Education currently experienced in Ibarapa land, as result of poor teaching environment and inadequate qualitative teachers.

According to the responses by most of the affected applicants, the major constraints for missing out in the opportunity is mainly their inability to source for transportation fund or sponsorship as a result of high cost of transportation to the CBT center situated in Ibadan which ranged between #10,000, #12,000 & #15,000 from Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North respectively.

It will be recalled that a prominent writer and publisher in Ibarapa, Prince Tayo Akinyemi on Monday 22nd June appraised the effort of
the Jagunmolu Olubadan of Ibadanland and Chairman of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort, Chief Jubril Dotun Sanusi, who provided free 18-seater bus for SUBEB applicants from Ibarapa geopolitical zone who participated in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) at the University of Ibadan DCL, CBT Centre, Ajibode, Ibadan. The Ibadan born businessman sponsored the free Transportation for Monday 22nd, Wednesday 24 and Friday 26th July, 2024, the gesture which was extended to other 5 zones in Oyo State.

Prince Akinyemi also in the statement appealed to Ibarapa Politicians to emulate Chief Sanusi’s gesture and follow suit as being done in Ibadan, Oyo and Okeogun.

Meanwhile, condemnation has continued to trail websites of Asako news on the non-challant attitudes of Ibarapa Politicians towards the low turnout. Most of the comments described Ibarapa Politicians as poor ambassadors of youth empowerment and qualitative education in Ibarapa region.

According some applicants who claimed anonymity:

“Honestly, am not surprised with the attitude displayed by our political office holders in Ibarapa, they believe the opportunity will be for we the poor, giving us such previlege will empower most of us, which they don’t want. They only want us to be preserved for voting in the sun and rain while their family becomes richer. God will judge them and bless those rendering selfless help like Jubril Sanusi”… Anonymous

“Honestly, we appreciate the gesture of Chief Sanusi, though I couldn’t meet the opportunity because I was scheduled for Tuesday. May God bless him and lay hands on Ibarapa Politicians to have the love of the poor”… Anonymous

“It is a shame, 2 house of Representatives, 2 house of Assembly members (a Speaker for that matter). They know sponsoring our transportation will empower us, which they don’t want.”… Anonymous.
