The Olu of Igboora, His Royal Majesty, Oba Jimoh Olajide Titiloye (JP), has on Saturday 14th December, 2024 installed Chief Emmanuel Oyedepo Osuolale as the new Baale of Fedegbo, Igboora.

The event which took place at the Olu of Igboora palace had in attendance traditional rulers across Ibarapa region, including the Onidere of Idere, Oba Kingsley Aderoju, Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Rafiu Ariwoola, Elempe of Tapa, Oba Titiloye Oyejide, Babaaso of Igbole, Oba Joshua Olusanjo Ojo, Onisaganun of Saganun, Oba Fasasi Jinadu, Onidofin of Idofin, Oba Adeleye and representative of the Oluaso of Iberekodo.

The new Baale of Fedegbo, Prince Oyedepo Osuolale hailed from the family of the immediate past Olu of Igboora, Otaobola and member of the fourteen Committee members of Park Manager System in Ibarapa Central Local Government.

Speaking on behalf of the Otaobola family, Prince Sola Oyewole traced the link of the ruling house to Ojo, a brave Hunter who hailed from Ogbomoso during the reign of Baale Otaobola Bankole as the Baale of Igboora. It was Baale Bankole who settled Ojo at Fedegbo, which was named in memory of where he came from (Fedegbo).

According to Prince Oyewole:

“Ojo helped Igboora during the Idahomy war because of his contribution during the war, as a result, Baale Bankole honoured him with a chieftaincy title as Olukotun of Igboora and also gave his Daughter, Abayomi in marriage to him.

“Marriage between Ojo and Abayomi was blessed with Baale Ajayi. It was this Royal name that changed the compound name ‘Ojo Olukotun’ to ‘Baale Ajayi’ compound.

“During the reign of Baale Ajayi, there was dispute between the family and Baale Ajayi appointed Odedeyi from Pako and Odedeyi from Iberekodo subsequently as Baale Fedegbo to be collecting royalty for him.

“Fedegbo is own by Olu of Igboora, and Olu of Igboora has been in authority of appointment of Baale of Fedegbo as the prescribed authority” he concluded.

In the same vein, the Akiitan (Fedegbo) rulling houses has protested the installation of Chief Emmanuel Oyedepo Osuolale as the Baale of Fedegbo by the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye.

At a press conference organised by the Fedegbo ruling house at the Baale Adeoye compound, Igboora on Saturday 14th December, 2024, the families protested the nomination and installation of Chief Emmanuel Oyedepo Osuolale, from Otaobola ruling house as the new Baale of Fedegbo.

Letter of nomination sent to Olu of Igboora

The Akiitan ruling houses consists of members of the Kudaisi, Ajayi, Olabiyi, Adesokan, Adekanbi and Oladokun sections of the Fedegbo ruling house.

Speaking on behalf of the ruling, the spokesperson, Prince Azeez Saubana Adegbenjo challenged the process which he described as ‘denial of birthright’.

According to Azeez:

“We are confuse on this turn of events. Historically, Fedegbo was founded by Akiitan, who hailed from Fedegbo, in Ogbomoso. Fedegbo still exists in the current Oriire Local Government.

“Akiitan was a Prince of Oba Odumegun. Akiitan left Fedegbo Ogbomoso due to chieftaincy tussle as Oba Odumegun begets many male child. Akiitan left and founded the current Fedegbo Igboora. Akiitan beget three children : Akinrumi, Akinyemi and Abiikanlu (the only female child).

Akinyemi gave birth to Ojo Olukotun who gave birth to 6 children that constitutes the current Fedegbo ruling house. Baale of Fedegbo has since inception been rotating amongst the 6 rulling houses till date.

After the death of the last Baale of Fedegbo, the 6 rulling houses met as custom demands and norminated Prince Ahmed Oladimeji Akanbi as our consensus candidate for the vacant stool. We forwarded our nomination to the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye for approval and installation. To our surprise, kabiesi told us there has been a nomination before our own, we were shocked as this has never happened in our history.

“We objected this, and were invited to the palace. Both parties narrated our histories, but kabiesi insisted he has interest in the other side, Otaobola. Otaobola family has never reign as Baale of Fedegbo. Even their candidate hail from Eruwa.

“Ojo Olukotun only assisted Igboora to win a war and was given a wife as compensation. The marriage gave birth to Baale Ajayi. How can Ajayi claimed ownership of Fedegbo?”

Corroborating the statement, Sobalojuof Fedegbo village, Chief Rauf Adeoye Oladokun said there has never been other ruling house in Fedegbo asides the 6 rulling houses. According to him :” Ataobola is unknown to us”.
