In a notable initiative to celebrate and preserve Yoruba culture, the Ogun State Government has pledged its support for cultural programs. This was evident during a courtesy visit by the Kegites Club Eldersis to the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, at his office in Oke-Mosan. The visit was in preparation for the upcoming Eldersis Jara 7.0 event, which will be hosted by Ogun State Eldersis.

Arch. Elder Ilya Fatika (Elder Michael Unique), leading the delegation, expressed the Kegites Club’s commitment to partnering with the ministry to promote Yoruba culture. He highlighted the club’s efforts to reshape public perceptions through various cultural activities.

Elder Nuga Moromoji, representing Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, praised the high intellectual and professional standards of Kegites Club members. He pointed out that many members, including Hon. Commissioner Fagbayi, who was an active member during his days at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, hold esteemed positions in various fields.

“Kegites Club has been instrumental in promoting cultural and traditional activities, particularly through music, since its inception. We are proud to collaborate with Hon. Commissioner Fagbayi, a distinguished Methuselah Elder Ilya du AOCOED, in our mission to uphold Yoruba heritage,” stated Eldersis Jara. He emphasized the significance of the Eldersis Jara 7.0 event, scheduled for August 24, 2024, in Abeokuta, which will bring together members from across Nigeria.

During the visit, Elder Para Ilya Olumo presented a letter of congratulations and a formal invitation to the Hon. Commissioner, acknowledging his support for the forthcoming Eldersis Jara 7.0 edition. The meeting concluded with a traditional gyration performance, honoring Hon. Fagbayi as a distinguished member of the Kegites Club.

This collaboration between the Ogun State Government and the Kegites Club Eldersis underscores a shared commitment to preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people, with the upcoming Eldersis Jara 7.0 event marking a significant milestone in these efforts.
