ODIDIOMO, OSENI, TOMMY, OGUNDOYIN, FAKOREDE, IBARAPAN KAN AND OTHER DIGNITARIES TO GRACE FIBSA’S 2024 PARLIAMENTARY SUMMIT

The Federation of Ibarapa Students Association (FIBSA) National Council has announced the third edition of its Annual Parliamentary Summit, a highly anticipated event dedicated to fostering civic engagement and empowering student voices in governance. This year’s summit is scheduled to take place on December 5, 2024, at the Lanlate Town Hall in Ibarapa East Local Government Area, Oyo State.

With the theme “Civic Engagement: Amplifying Students’ Voices in Governance,” the summit has become a cornerstone for dialogue and collaboration between students and leaders across the Ibarapa region.

The previous editions have set a high standard for engagement and impact. The first summit, held in 2018 in Igboora, featured Hon. Segun Ebenezer Ogunwuyi, now the Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, as Guest Speaker.

In 2021, the second summit hosted Senator Dr. Abdulfatai Omotayo Buhari, an accomplished parliamentarian, as Guest Speaker.

This year’s edition boasts an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers and guests. Among the Guest Speakers are Hon. Stanley Olajide (Odidi Omo), representing Ibadan Northwest/Southwest Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on ICT, and Hon. Dr. Aderemi Oseni, representing Ido/Ibarapa East Federal Constituency and Chairman, House Committee on FERMA.

Hon. Anthony Adepoju (Ibarapa Kan), representing Ibarapa North/Central Federal Constituency, will deliver the keynote address, while Hon. Seun Fakorede, the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State on Youth and Sports, will give a special address. The Chief Host of the event is Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly.

The Father of the Day is Alhaji Wasiu Adewale Tomiwa Omolewa (Tommy), the Oyo State PMS Chairman. Other special guests include Chief Adewale Atanda Alase, Member of the Oyo State Advisory Council; Hon. Yemi Taiwo, Chairman of the Oyo State Library Board; Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Oyo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports; Alhaji Akeem Kuso, Oyo State Chairman for Tipper, Lorry, and Quarry PMS; Alhaji Ademola Adeoye, Vice Chairman of the Oyo State PMS; Hon. Tokunbo Toriola (Toks); and Mr. Dominic Akinjide Fagbemi, Chairman of the DAF Foundation.

Hosting this monumental event is SEN. Olalowo Eniola E., the FIBSA National Senate President, whose leadership has been instrumental in bringing together these esteemed dignitaries and providing a platform for impactful dialogue on civic engagement.

This summit presents a unique opportunity for students and stakeholders to engage with seasoned leaders, deliberate on pressing civic and governance issues, and strengthen their roles in nation-building.
