ISAWO FC SEIZES GLORY: MALIK’S MAGIC STRIKE SECURES HISTORIC 2024 AYETE INTER-QUARTERS TITLE

The Isawo Quarters are awash with celebration as Isawo Football Club clinched the championship in the Ayete Inter-Quarters Football Competition, solidifying their status as Ayete’s football titans.

A dramatic solo effort by star striker Malik Adeleke in the dying moments of the final secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Odoode FC on December 13, 2024.

The much-anticipated tournament began on November 4, 2024, with ten quarters from Ayete community participating. The group stages saw Ikogba FC and Oba FC bow out early, leaving eight teams to battle for supremacy in the quarterfinals.

Odoode FC, Malete FC, Imofin FC, and Oke-Isawo FC emerged victorious in the quarterfinals, knocking out Iki FC, Gbodiko FC, Iwafin FC, and Oke-Ogun FC, respectively.

The semifinal rounds set the stage for a heated final as Odoode FC eliminated Malete FC, and Isawo FC triumphed over Imofin FC. The clash for third place saw Imofin FC defeat Malete FC on December 12, 2024, earning the bronze medal.

In the final showdown, Isawo FC’s tactical discipline and Malik Adeleke’s brilliance proved decisive, earning the champions their fifth title and cementing their legacy as the most successful club in Ayete’s football history.

The champions received ₦25,000 in prize money, while Odoode FC, the first runner-up, took home ₦20,000. Imofin FC, as the second runner-up, received ₦15,000, with Malete FC pocketing ₦10,000 for finishing fourth. The remaining clubs were also recognized with participation rewards.

Individual honors went to Ojeyemi Ibraheem (Best Player) of Isawo FC, Lamidi Baaki (Best Keeper) of Oke Isawo FC, and Tijani Afeez (Top Scorer) of Oke Ogun FC with four goals. A rising star from Odoode FC, nicknamed Kòfésù, claimed the Best Young Player award.

Isawo FC’s head coach, Abiodun Oyalowo, praised his team and fans for their unwavering support, while skipper Ojeyemi Ibraheem lauded the competitive spirit of the other teams and celebrated his team’s hard-fought victory.

This year’s competition will be remembered as a thrilling display of Ayete’s football passion and talent, with Isawo FC reigning supreme yet again.
