A group under the umbrella of “Concerned Ibarapa North Youth” has raised eyebrow to a statement credited to the executive chairman, Ibarapa North Local Government and flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party for Ibarapa North Local Government in the forthcoming Local Government election in Oyo State, Hon. Lateef Akorede during his electioneering campaign at his home town, Ayete on Thursday, 12th April, 2024.

In a statement made available to Asako news, titled:

“Concerned Ibarapa North Youth Condemned Unguided and Uncultured Statement by PDP Candidate Mr. Lateef Akorede”.

According to the release unsigned release credited to some concerned Youths, in a campaign video released by the candidate of PDP for Ibarapa North, Mr. Lateef publicly declared that, only bastards from his town (Ayete) that will vote for candidates from another town in Ibarapa North. The youths cautioned the local government boss and reminded him that he is the chairman of the whole community in Ibarapa North, and should always act as such.

According to the release:

“In 2019, Lateef Akorede worked against our leader and brother from Ayete, Alhaji Salaudeen Fatai. Fast forward to 2023, many Illustrious Sons of Ayete participated in that election, but Lateef Akorede’s greed and self-centeredness didn’t deem fit to support Mukaram Aliu Kewulere, Rasheed Gbadamosi, and Engr. Saheed Adeyemi Oladele (SAO).

“The aforementioned facts shows that Lateef is not a true believer of democracy, but he actually wants to reap the rewards because he has the pot of allocation on his table, he holds green Biro as Executive Chairman, but he failed woefully, Mr. Lateef failed to give an account of stewardship, he has not in any way contribute to the growth and development of Ibarapa North, and he should not use his ambition to divide peaceful coexistence of love and harmony between Tapa, Igangan, and Ayete.

“Mr. Lateef Akorede should act honourably and follow the path of his leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde, because every citizen has their own constitutional right to vote for who they want to vote for without discrimination or inteference of their constitutional right” the statement concluded.

In his switch reaction, the executive chairman of Ibarapa North Local Government and flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic party for the forthcoming local government election in Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Lateef Adebare Akorede has debunked the release credited to the concerned Youths, challenging them to disclose their identity to the release which he described as a political tactics to turn the good people of Ibarapa North Local Government who have always been his source of inspiration to his good leadership styles.

According to Akorede:

“Yes, our campaign team was at Ayete on Thursday in continuation of our electioneering campaign to Ayete people, who coincidentally are my family, I was addressing my people, where they exhume such vulger words is personal to them, and they have the right to their own opinion. They are faceless people that are enemies of the good work our dispensation and that of my leader and the Executive Governor of Oyo State, H.E Eng. Seyi Makinde is doing to make Oyo State great”.

While asked by Asako news about the video attached to the statement, Hon. Akorede said:

“I told you I was canvassing for votes from my people, we are doing politics, whatever the interpretation credited to them is personal to them, but come rain come sunshine, the people of Ibarapa North remained dear to me and I will always appreciate them” he concluded.
