HOPECREST COLLEGE TOPS MAIDEN OLUSEGUN OKANLAWON MATHEMATICS COMPETITION

Hopecrest College, Igboora, has clinched the top spot in the first edition of the Olusegun Okanlawon Mathematics Competition, hosted by SpyGist Media. The event, held on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, saw participation from 32 schools across Ibarapa

Amoo Ibrahim, representing Hopecrest College, emerged as the overall winner of the competition. Olagbenro Tosin of Royal Diadem, Igangan, secured the first runner-up position, while Adeniyi Joseph of Police Academy, Igboora, claimed the second runner-up spot.

The winners are set to be awarded cash prizes at the grand finale of the Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation (OOF) program on December 28, 2024. The champion will receive ₦150,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive ₦100,000 and ₦50,000, respectively.

Speaking at the event, Adedokun Sunday Harshasha, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Engr. (Dr) David Olusegun Okanlawon, praised the participants for their brilliant performances.

“This competition was designed to promote academic excellence, foster unity, and provide a platform for students to enhance their intellectual abilities. It is a step toward motivating young minds and creating a competitive environment where they can sharpen their rational and analytical skills,” he said.

The Olusegun Okanlawon Mathematics Competition has been hailed as a transformative initiative that not only encourages academic growth but also strengthens bonds among communities in Ibarapa region of Oyo State.
