ERUWA KINGSHIP CRISIS: COMRADE FEMI OGUNSHOLA URGES IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION FOR PEACE AND PROGRESS
In a heartfelt and impassioned open letter, Comrade Femi Ogunshola has called upon the stakeholders of Eruwa to resolve the prolonged kingship dispute that has caused division and unrest in the community since 2021. Highlighting the contrast with neighboring towns that have successfully crowned new kings, Ogunshola urged all parties to prioritize the peace, progress, and unity of Eruwa.
The letter in details
Open Letter to All Parties Concerned on the Kingship Matter in Eruwa
Dear Esteemed Stakeholders,
I write to you today with a heavy heart and a deep sense of responsibility regarding the ongoing kingship matter in our beloved town, Eruwa. It is with utmost concern that I address this issue, which has lingered for far too long, causing unrest and division among us.
Since 2021, when the last judgment on this matter was pronounced, I have watched with a mixture of hope and frustration as towns across Oyo State have successfully crowned new kings. In fact, two successful successions have taken place in neighboring towns like Ibadan marking the peaceful transfer of leadership and continuity of tradition. Yet, in Eruwa, we remain entangled in disputes and discord. While I know I wasn’t born into a ruling house, the development of Eruwa matters most to me and many others.
Even though I typically refrain from involving myself in kingship matters, the need to write this letter has become imperative. Our prolonged lack of resolution has caused us to miss out on many opportunities as a community. The time has come for all parties involved to sheath their swords and come together for the greater good of our community. Let us put aside personal ambitions and grievances to focus on what truly matters – the peace, progress, and unity of Eruwa. Our town, which we often refer to as our dear Jerusalem, deserves better.
Eruwa’s rich history and cultural heritage are too valuable to be overshadowed by conflict. It is time for us to show the world that we can resolve our differences amicably and emerge stronger as a united community. The future of our children and the prosperity of our town depend on the decisions we make today.
All duly recognized princes should unite and speak with one voice, advocating for a common cause to present to the government. This united front will demonstrate our commitment to resolving the issue and moving forward as a cohesive community.
Let us all work together to bring about a resolution that is fair, just, and in the best interest of Eruwa. I appeal to the wisdom and patriotism of our leaders, elders, and all concerned parties to prioritize peace and harmony above all else.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. May Eruwa continue to thrive and shine as a beacon of unity and progress.
Yours sincerely,
Comrade Femi Ogunshola
