ENCOMIUMS AS REA SET TO REFURBISH, REPLACE ELECTRIC TRANSMISSION EQUIPMENTS IN IBARAPA

Rural Electrification Agency of Nigeria (REA) has officially begin the process of refurbishment of damaged poles, replacement of damaged transformers, allocation of new transformers to new areas and other transmission equipments across Ibarapa region.

The REA Technical team head by the South West Coordinator, Eng. Dolapo Boyejo on Saturday, 25th May, 2024 inspected all electrical transmitters, transformers and poles across the seven major towns in Ibarapa region.

The inspection started from Eruwa at exactly 8:30am and end at Igangan around 3pm under the inspection of representatives of Ibarapa Leaders led by the former Chairman, Ibarapa Central Local Government, Hon. Yemi Akinlabi.

The delegation after the inspection, paid courtesy visit to the Olu of Igboora land, Oba Jimoh Titiloye. Speaking at the Palace of the Olu of Igboora land, Hon. Yemi Akinlabi who spearhead the initiative on behalf of Ibarapa Community, highlighted that the essence of move is to ensure a final solution to the poor power supply which had been ravaging the zone for many years. The former local government boss appluad the effort of the federal government of Nigeria through the Honorable Minister for Power, Hon. Bayo Adelabu which prompted the inspection and commencement of the replacement and refurbishment of the electrical transmitters by the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). According to Akinlabi, the refurbishment will ensure effective and efficient power supply across Ibarapa towns.

Reacting on behalf of the REA Technical team, the Rural Electrification Agency South West Coordinator, Eng. Dolapo Boyejo appreciated Ibarapa Community for for according the team a prestige honour. According to him, the technical team will first ensure a stable power supply before the repairs commence. He lamented the very poor State of transmission equipments they inspected, which according to him, is a major task.

“What we met on ground is a major task. It first of all requires total rehabilitation of most electric transformers. The damaged poles in the bush had to be moved outward and replaced with concrete poles. After the completion of Eruwa – Igboora rehabilitation, we now move to Idere – Ayete – Tapa and Igangan”.

In his reaction, the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye equally appreciate the federal government, the Minister of Power and the Rural Electrification Agency for coming to the rescue of poor power supply in Ibarapa region.

The royal father reviewed the various efforts made by the Community and Oyo State Government in addressing the situation.

According to Olu of Igboora:

“We adopted various efforts and options. One of the major problem is accessibility of damaged poles which are far away in the bush. I am so happy with this move of comensement by REA, with this, I am assured power supply in Ibarapa will be solved in totalty”.

Part of the places inspected for new transformers include:

Oke ipin New Eruwa, New Okeola, Aborerin,
Ogboja area,Pako titun, Hasibunallah hostel, Temidere and Apakan community, Oke-odo, Arapanajo,
Olu of Igboora palace, Ore-meji Olugbon junction, Alhaji Salau junction, Ayete, Muslim Academy, School of Science, Idere, Olorunsogo Idere, Abule Adaja, Ikogba, Onimangoro Eruwa road and several places.

Part of the Ibarapa delegation include former Chairman Ibarapa North Local Government, Hon. Fatai. Salau, Hon. Kewulere Mukaram, President Ayete Progressive Union, Hon. Adegbenjo Samuel, Hon. Funsho Adeleke and others.
