“A SHINING STAR IS GONE” – PRINCE TAYO MOURNS PROF. ABIODUN ADEBOWALE OJO,
“The community has lost a shining star in the passing of Prof. Abiodun Adebowale Ojo,” Alhaji Prince Tayo Akinyemi mourn, reflecting the sentiments of many who knew and admired the esteemed educator and community leader. Prof. Ojo’s legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to education leaves an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with him.
“I vividly recall the warm reception Mr. Biodun Ojo would accord Ibarapa students at the Tai Solarin College of Education in the early 90s,” reminisces Alhaji Akinyemi, highlighting Prof. Ojo’s commitment to encouraging academic success among students from the region.
“In times of personal crisis, Prof. Ojo’s compassion knew no bounds,” shares Alhaji Akinyemi, recounting a personal experience in 2007/08 when a simple call to Prof. Ojo swiftly resolved a NYSC posting issue at Ansar Us Deen High School, Ijebu Ode.
Alhaji Akinyemi reflects on the humility and dedication exemplified by Prof. Ojo, particularly during his PhD graduation from the University of Ibadan in the early 2000s. “His humility and commitment to family traditions, such as visiting our home every Christmas, even after the passing of loved ones, endeared him to many,” he adds.
Described as a “rare family figure,” Prof. Ojo’s leadership qualities were admired by all. “During the funeral of his late father, Gbonka Adewole Ojo, Prof. Ojo’s unwavering support and commitment to family unity were evident to all,” shares Alhaji Akinyemi, quoting Prof. Ojo’s memorable mantra, “E lo ba Demola.”
Alhaji Prince Tayo Akinyemi further acknowledges Prof. Ojo’s significant contributions to education and institutional development, culminating in his appointment as Governing Council Chairman of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, in 2022.
“The news of Prof. Ojo’s passing has left the community in deep sadness and shock,” expresses Alhaji Akinyemi. “May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal peace,” he concludes, echoing the sentiments of many who mourn the loss of a true luminary.
