The house of Representative flagbearer for Ibarapa Central and North federal constituency in the just concluded National Assembly election under the platform of ACCORD Party, Eng. Dr. David Olusegun Okanlawon (OOF) broke silence on Monday, 27th February, 2023 to congratulate the winner and house of Representative- elect, Dr. Adebayo Adepoju (Ibarapa kan) on his victory at the keenly contested poles. He appreciated his constituents, his family and most especially the 5,874 people that voted him in the context.

In a statement titled “Heartfelt Gratitude” made available to Asako news, the youthful politician, pillanthropist and human developer said :

“It is a great pleasure for me to write this appreciation note to everyone who was a part of my engagement and journey towards and during the just-concluded elections”.

“I congratulate the winner, Hon. Adebayo Adepoju, on meeting the requirements as he got elected to represent Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives. I pray your term will be fruitful and successful”.

“We lost the election, but we gained a lot in exchange, including the support, love, and most importantly, the end of an era that kept our constituency in the shadows of relevance”.

“Despite unanticipated events, I am impressed by the results, and I want to take this opportunity to thank all my people across Igboora, Idere, Ayete, Tapa, and Igangan for going to the polls”.

“I appreciate and congratulate all our party members individually. I cannot thank you enough for how you stood tall and strong to defend our shared objective”.

“To the 5,874 people that voted for me, I applaud you. You saw the future. I feel greatly honoured that you pitched your tents with me and with the Accord Party. I honestly admire your commitment to your convictions in the face of unspeakable harm. I am aware of a husband that brutally assaulted his wife and seized her phone just because she supports our party. This is just one of the many instances of adversity people have faced because they believe in our vision”.

“Despite how peaceful the election was, it is disappointing to see that violence is still a problem in our society. It is quite unfortunate that some people got hurt during the altercation that occurred at Ward 7. In fact, an agent of our party was stabbed and is currently receiving treatment. We pray that he receives quick recovery”.

“I have been blessed with the most awesome family. I thank my family for giving me the opportunity to devote myself to this quest and for their unquantifiable support”.

“I thank my friends for their numerous support, both silently and openly. Your energies have greatly propelled me forward as you can see today”.

“To my team, I am very proud of what we have accomplished together. We went through thick and thin. We deserve huge applause for daring to challenge the status quo, and for doing it gallantly and successfully. Thank you very much”.

“I want to assure everyone that our developmental agenda for our communities will not slack or fail. Rather, we will continue to seek ways to attract sustainable development to our constituency and region”.

“Finally, I urge everyone to be upbeat as we pray blessings and peace on our communities and wisdom for our new leaders”.

It will be recalled that the young and vibrant politician fought gallantly to secure third position with 5,874 votes behind the current member representing Ibarapa Central and North at the lower chamber, Bar. Dr. Saubana Muraina Ajibola of APC who came second with 12,180 votes while Dr. Bayo Adepoju
Adepoju was announced by INEC as the winner with 12,881 votes.
