As the Ibarapa premier school, Igboora High School continues activities marking her 60th anniversary, an Alumni of the school, Mr. Muritala Ogunremi has urged the national body of the old Students to acknowledge the impactful role played by the 2002 set to resuscitate the school from collapse. According to him,
“celebrating Igboora High School at 60 won’t be possible without specially recognizing the 2002 set as the set that God used as the keeper of the system”.

The statement copied to Asako news reads:

“Why it becomes imperative to remind and tell people how God used 2002 set to salvage the school from Imminent collapse and extinction………

Going back to memory, around 1997 and 1998 Oyo state government integrated Unity schools, cut across part of the State; Igboora High School was part of the schools choosen due to her standard facilities and suitable environment .

However, the emergence of Unity schools appeared threaten existence of Igboora High School leading to distribution of Students at various classes to other schools of their choice; this was aimed total collapse of the well established system.

As God ordained, that process continued, until the 2002 set escaped the posting and remained in the system until around 1999. We did not have neither the Junior nor the Senior classes………….

We survived the hurdles and the then Principal, Chief Adebayo Ridwan took over the system and made several efforts in collaboration with stakeholders to mobilise for the senior class and that was SS 3 only as external students. As
stated earlier, then there was no Jss 1 and Jss 2 then, except SS3 and JSS3.

In a nutshell, celebrating Igboora High School at 60 won’t be more glorified without specially recognition of 2002 set as the keeper of system; Yes, God used 2002 set to sustained the system we are celebrating today.

Special appreciation to Chief. Adebayo Ridwan (Our then Principal and Mrs. Oguntoyinbo (Vice Principal) and other teachers time won’t permit me to mention for instilling in us good virtues despite not having Seniors to look up to.

I won’t end this piece without recognizing *Miss Oguntoyinbo Mayowa* of blessed memory who happened to be the Library and Debating Prefect; may her soul continue to rest in peace”.

Ogunremi Muritala.
(2002 set Alumni).
