Barr. Opeyemi Tijani (BOT) holds maiden edition of Christmas carol for constituents
Embracing the festive spirit of Christmas, Barrister Opeyemi Tijani (BOT) has hosted a heartwarming two-day Christmas Funfair for children and constituents of the Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency of Oyo State. The funfair unfolded over two days, starting at Tapa Township Hall, Tapa, Ibarapa North Local Government, and concluding at Adegoke Primary School’s Hall, Igboora, Ibarapa Central Local Government on the 20th and 21st of December, 2023 respectively. These events brought joy and celebration to the residents of Ibarapa North and Central local governments.
The funfair was graced by the participation of approximately 450 pupils, meticulously selected from both private and public primary schools within the Ibarapa Central and North Federal constituency. This inclusive approach ensured that children from diverse educational backgrounds could share in the joy and festivities of the season.
During the opening ceremony, Barr. Opeyemi expressed gratitude for the protection and mercy bestowed by God Almighty. He acknowledged the significance of being gathered together, viewing it as a testament to God’s mercy. Highlighting the joyous essence of Christmas and its spiritual significance, he emphasized that children, with their purity and selflessness, perfectly embody the Christmas spirit. This inspired his decision to share the season’s joy with them, fostering affection, togetherness, and development through creativity, imagination, and socialization.
Barr. Opeyemi also took the opportunity to advise the children on celebrating responsibly, urging them to avoid social vices that could tarnish their reputation and disappoint their families. Drawing wisdom from Proverbs chapter 9 verses 9-12, he counseled them to grow in the fear of God, steering clear of evil and contributing positively to society.
The event’s highlights included engaging fun sessions, educational quizzes, vibrant dance performances, and ewi rendition. The children who excelled in the quizzes were rewarded with special gifts from Barr. Opeyemi Tijani and Father Christmas. A visit to the Christmas grotto to see Father Christmas added a magical touch to the celebration, leaving lasting memories for all attendees.
In his concluding remarks, Barrister Tijani thanked all the participants for gracing the event with their presence and exuded optimism for the future, expressing his hope that the new year will be a harbinger of continued joy, prosperity, and communal harmony for all. He emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in fostering a supportive environment for children to thrive and for the community to prosper. Barrister Tijani reiterated his commitment to the welfare and development of the Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, pledging to continue such initiatives that not only celebrate festive occasions but also strengthen the bonds within the community. With a heartfelt wish for peace and happiness, he encouraged everyone to carry the spirit of the funfair into the new year, building a foundation of hope and positivity for the days to come.
