ANNUAL RECESS : IBARAPA KAN PLANS FURTHER LEGISLATIVE FUNCTION AND ENGAGEMENT WITH CONSTITUENTS
As the House of Representatives commenced its annual recess on Thursday, July 27, 2023, and plenary adjourned till September, member representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency in the 10th Assembly, Hon. Dr. Anthony Adebayo Adepoju has rolled out his schedule, which will not be for fun, but to further Legislative functions and consultation.
In a release made available to Asako news, personally signed by the legislator, he highlight how will use the two-month break to carry out legislative assignments, engage with constituents in Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, and pay a familiarisation visit to different parastatals and agencies of government.
According to the release, the law maker wrote:
“Not only that, I will be meeting with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) to discuss the state of epileptic power supply in my constituency with a view to finding an immediate solution.”
“Part of the break will also be used to have one-on-one interaction with Ibarapa indigenes in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, and also in the Diaspora, in order to achieve sustainable development in Ibarapa Land by guaranteeing a healthy and wealthy environment for everybody, including future generations.”
“Prior to the annual recess, I was chosen by the House to be a member of five different ad-hoc committees, currently investigating various sectors of government, such as:
1. Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate the Arbitrary Increase of Petrol Pump Price from N537 to N617 by Petrol Marketers and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) (HR.98/07/2023)
2. Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate the CBN for Alleged Management of Funds and Non-Disclosure (HR, 131/07/2023)
3. Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate the Activities of the Nigeria Sovereign Wealth Authority from Inception to Date and Other Managed Funds to Access its Compliance with the Establishment Act of 2011 (HR, 104/07/2023)
4. Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate the Utilisation of Ecological Funds Released to the Great Green Wall by the International Organisation from 2015 to Date; and All Federal Allocation to the National Agency for the Great Wall as well as Contract Awarded to Various Contractors for the Project from 2019 to Date.
5. Ad-hoc Committee on Medical and Dental (Ukraine) (HR.146/07/2023). This resolution was passed by the House in response to a motion raised by my humble self on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, “On the Need to Safeguard the Academic Pursuits of Nigerian Medical Students in Ukraine.” In the motion, I urged the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria to, in the spirit of nation-building, reconsider its position and allow the Nigerian Medical Graduates of 2022 from Ukraine to have their medical certificate considered for practise so as to prevent waste of time and resources by the students.
These investigations, while the House is on recess, would be thoroughly pursued in the interests of the generality of Nigerians.”
