CLUB RENOVATES IGBOORA HISTORICAL EDIFICE

As against the insinuation that the Oja Igboora roundabout beautification is been sponsored by the Ibarapa Central Local Government, commendation have been shifted to one of the frontline social club in Igboora, FLOURISH CLUB, for their efforts towards the beautification of the Edifice.

The official commissioning was performed by the Olu of Igboora and Chairman Ibarapa Central Traditional Council, Oba Jimoh Titiloye in comemoration of 10th years anniversary of the club on Sunday, 1st October, 2023.

The event which took place at the Igboora market square had in attendance Traditional rulers, Business mugols and personalities within and outside Ibarapa land.

In his opening remark, the out-going president of the Club, Mr. Oladoke Afeez appreciated the Patron, Matron and members of the club for their love and sacrifices towards making their previous and current achievements successful.

According to him, some of the achievements of the club include hosting of football competition within Igboora on two occasions, organising quize competition for junior secondary schools in Ibarapa Central with cash price, reaching out to widows and renovation of Oja Igboora roundabout.

The guest lecturer and Director of Asako Multimedia, Prince Akintayo Akinyemi appreciate the Patron of the Club, Mr. Tokunbo Toriola for always being part to several developmental stories in Ibarapa, especially in Igboora. He lauded efforts of the club members for working in unison towards contributing their quotas to Igboora development as been done in the past by founding fathers of the historical and mordern Igboora towns.

According to Prince Tayo Akinyemi, “founding members of Igboora founded the town with love, we were not there though, but how come six Communities fused to be one? We must go back to memory lane and act exactly the way our forefathers acted”

Referenced to minutes of Igboora Literary Union (comprising of youths and elites of Igboora) of December 25th & 26th 1974 where the likes of lates Chief J.P Olugbile, Chief Adewole Ojo, Alhaji, Yussuf A. Akinlabi, Bar. Wale Adeniran, Chief N.A Akinlabi, Chief M.F Adeegbe, Chief J.M Olanipekun, Alhaji Atilola Adedigba, HRH. Lamidi Akinyemi, Chief Layi Sangodare, Pa. S. Ojelabi, J.K Bello and several of Igboora legends (few currently alive like Pa Joseph Olawunmi, Chief Oje Morakinyo, Dr. Amos Adepoju etc, though), came together yearly to delibrate on various developmental projects like Igboora Post office, Igboora High school, Town Hall etc without political undertone, this are monuments Igboora Communities enjoyed till date. He urged members of the club to keep up the spirit of oneness and eshew sentiment. He equally appeal to the club and other clubs/associations to extend same gesture to the damaged Twin Edifice at Gbotikale area.

Concluding his lecture, Prince Akintayo appeal to Igboora leaders to incorporate youths in their various programs as they’re more useful now than later.

In his short sermon, Alhaji Mustafa Yakub Onikeke, he urged members of the club to always share success and trials together, this according to Islam, strengthen love and unity.

The anniversary witnessed award presentation to personalities within and outside Ibarapa which includes Eng. AbdulAzeez Adeoye, Member, Board of Directors Ogun – Osun river basin authority and former Oyo State Commissioner for water resources, Eng. Akorede who double as Chairman of the occasion, Mr. Jide Fagbemi (represented by Prince Goke Adeoye) and several others.

Commissioning of the Edifice was later performed by the Olu of Igboora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye who also gave his royal blessing and encouragement in the presence of the club Patron, Hon. Tokunbo Toriola, Alasako of Asako, Mr. Dapo Atilola and other personalities.
