WE WILL CONTINUE TO INVEST IN OUR FUTURE, HON MURAINA ASSURES CONSTITUENTS, SPONSORS BALLOON DEBATE/QUIZ COMPETITION

The first round of the second edition of a balloon debate/ quiz competition amongst secondary school students in Ibarapa Central/ Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, initiated and sponsored by Hon Dr Ajibola Muraina, the Member representing the constituency at the 9th House of Representatives, was held at Ayete Grammar School, Ayete on Saturday May 7, 2022.

The competition, “Ojebode Ayinde Muraina Annual Balloon Debate/Quiz Competition” named in honour of the father of the federal lawmaker is one of the ways Hon Muraina is nurturing a bright future for secondary school students in his constituency. “Our desire is for Ibarapaland to experience increasing development and prosperity. These students are the future of Ibarapa and we will continue to invest in them and Ibarapaland,” he noted.

Furthermore, Hon Muraina stated, “It requires diligence and focus for students to cultivate and master the desirable skills of staying informed about the news and happenings around them as well as being able to communicate intelligently and convincingly about any given issue and topic in a debate.”

In his address, Prince Olalere Rafiu Bola, the Chairman Organizing Committee of the competition welcomed participants and their teachers while thanking Hon Muraina for his vision for Ibarapa and his efforts in actualizing it.

Nineteen schools represented by two students each participated in the competition, moderated by Mr S. A. Oyediran, the Secretary, Organizing Committee and judged by a committee of competent examiners.

For the debate, the students argued for and against the topic: Should parents allow their children to choose their career? The quiz tested students knowledge of Mathematics, English Language and Current Affairs/ General Knowledge. After the exercise, Royal Diadem College, Igangan led the schools from Ibarapa North with Success Modern College, Igangan and Muslim Academy, Ayete coming second and third respectively. While schools from Igbo-Ora, Ibarapa Central had Adegoke College in the pole position with Royal Star College and Favourland College coming second and third. The second and final round is slated for Saturday May 14, 2022.

Hon Muraina reaffirms his commitment to the educational development of Ibarapa Central/ Ibarapa North Federal Constituency as he assured his constituents that he will continue to invest in the development of the best and the brightest Ibarapa students.
