Hon Muraina, who recalled that he was the best student in essay competitions throughout Ibarapaland, in the years 1979 and 1980 consecutively, gave the advice at the grand finale of the ‘Muraina Saubana Ajibola Football Competition’ for public and private secondary school students in Ibarapa Central/ Ibarapa North Federal Constituency. The grand finale was held on Friday, 16th December, 2022 at the Methodist Grammar school playing ground, Igbo-Ora.

He pointed out that the skills he developed by participation in those essay competitions of yesteryears, prepared him for being an effective representative of the people at the National Assembly today.

Two separate football matches, of customized time limits, were played: the third place match between Oyo State School of Science, Idere and Maku Grammar School, Tapa was won by the former while in the final between Igbo-Ora Grammar School and Oke-Ako High School, Igangan, the latter emerged the winner.

Certificates of participation were presented to schools which were represented in the ‘Olawunmi Agbeke Annual Memorial Essay Competition’ and the ‘Ojebode Ayinde Muraina Annual Balloon Debate/ Quiz Competition’. Students who took first to third in both competitions were given commemorative plaques and prize money. The referees, members and officials of the participating teams in the football competition were given medals. Prize money in envelopes were also handed out to the teams.

In his address, at the presentation of the football competition trophy to Oke-Ako High School, Igangan, Hon Muraina noted that an Igangan school winning the trophy illustrates his personal experience with Igangan people as a focussed, purpose driven people, even as he advised all Ibarapa students to make the best of the opportunities the competitions offered, “In life, there will always be contests and competitions. If you win, you thank God. If you lose, you go and start preparing for another day. In life, those who are calm in the face of setbacks are those who can match forward. We didn’t organize this programme to play politics. It is not a constituency project. It is a personal programme and it is organized to inspire young Ibarapa talents”.

He continued, “More often than not, it is what you put into what you are doing that determines where you get to in life. Those who are representing the good people of this country are those that excelled in exercises like this in the past”.

“All of you that have benefited have done well. Take this as an indication of your future as leaders of tomorrow. Take the opportunities you are being given seriously to prepare you for the future. We will continue to do our best for you. This is not politics”

“Take a look around our constituency, you will notice that it is only your representative, Ajibola Muraina that is executing projects: schools renovations, bus-stops, public toilets, motorized boreholes, solar street lights, et cetera. Right now, apart from on going construction of solar street lights , there are eight on going construction of multiple taps motorized boreholes facilitated by Hon Dr Ajibola Muraina at the following locations in this federal constituency to wit: Grade “ A” Customary Court, Saganun , Igbo Ora; Idofin Community, Igbo Ora; Araromi Village, Idere; Kondo Village; Igbo Ora; Gbangbagere Village, Ayete ; Igbo Nla Village, Igangan; Eleede Village , Igangan and Konko Market , Tapa. That someone did not do what he’s supposed to do, does not stop us from doing our own. That is the spirit of service, that we want to pass across to you.
