IBARAPA POLITICAL ICON : MOGAJI SILAS LASUNSI IS DEAD

The pioneer Chairman of the defunct Ibarapa Central Local Government, Chief Silas Okunlola Lasunsi is dead . He died earlier today, Thursday, 13th October, 2022 at his Idere hometown after a brief illness.

The late National political icon was so influencial and practically impactful in his various political roles before Nigeria’s independence till the present republic.

He was the Chairman of the defunct Ibarapa Central Local Government comprising of Igboora, Idere, Tapa, Ayete and Igangan between April 2, 1981 – September 30, 1983.

The Mogaji of Idere land died as a devoted Christian at ripe age of 98.

Meanwhile, personalities within and outside Ibarapa has been sending condolence messages on the exit of the great Icon. His political Ally, Chief Larape Jolaoso while contacted by Asako news, described Chief Lasunsi’s exit at this period as a rude shock, but he takes solace in the Lord who giveth and taketh at will.

Former House of representative member representing Ibarapa Central and North, Hon. Ojoawo Iloko described exit of the late Icon as next to none in the annals of Ibarapa political historiography.

Prince Tayo Akinyemi has equally described Late Chief Lasunsi’s death as a great loss to him personally and loss of another model of Ibarapa politics, traditional history and archival custodian. According to him:” Baba was a reliable, dependable and unparalleled role model in peace building, historical facts, Modern Politics and Custodian of Tradition”.

He furthered: “Baba played two evergreen roles lately, firstly Baba in company of Late Chief M. F Adeegbe and late Prophet Sunday Ojelabi led the Ibarapa Traditional rulers in resolving industrial crisis of the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology in 2018 when I ran to them, they never regarded me as a small boy, I was always embarrassed with the respect he usually accorded me, this I will forever be grateful to Baba”

“Secondly, Baba and late Chief Adeegbe meddled maturely a lingering crisis I won’t mention here; Baba was a peaceful man till his death, I will surely miss his impactful roles and wisdom, may the good Lord grant Baba eternal rest “
