Ibarapa East Seat: Adesokan Steps Down, Pledges Loyalty To APC, Leaders
A leading aspirant for the Ibarapa East State Constituency Seat at the Oyo State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tpl Samuel Adesokan has stepped down for the chosen candidate of the party.
Adesokan made this known in a statement made available to newsmen, on Wednesday, in Lanlate.
The Town Planner also pledged his loyalty and commitment to the leaders of the party and party’s decision.
He thanked his supporters and well-wishers while urging them to join him to work harder to unite all party faithfuls toward achieving victory in the 2023 general elections.
The statement read: “It is my sincere pleasure to greatly appreciate your endless supports since the beginning of my political ambition for the State Assembly position since 2019 under the platforms of ADC and now in APC.
“It is quite unfortunate that we have to obey and submit to our party leadership again. Lanlate comprises of four wards out of the ten wards that made up Ibarapa East State Constituency.I am from ward 9 which has never produced House of Assembly member since 1999 till date.
“Many of us know that buying nomination form is never an issue for a candidate who had been creating strong awareness and consultation across the board in our dear constituency for well over four years.
“But who are we to proceed further when leaders had spoken. We believe they can not plead and beg us and we still turn them down. That may turn to be a disrespect to their personalities.
“Although the decision did not go well with us and we made our leaders aware of that but they have pleaded enough with us and we must let go as they want in the interest of our dear Community.
“We believe we want to serve people and the community and if community leaders say we should wait a bit and allow another fellow go for now, we can not query them again and we strongly believe that our own time will never elude us.
“So, in the interest of peace, unity and progress as the motor of our dear party APC, I wish to state here that we have been asked to step down for a brother of ours to represent our dear Community Lanlate with our sister community Eruwa in the forth coming APC Primaries election.
“Finally, I wish to register that we will never relent but rather work harder to unite all party faithful by making sure we all bury our prides and come together to win all our polls (Presidency, Senates, Reps and State Assembly respectively come 2023.
“I therefore plead to our lovers to please see our decision as a BIG sacrifice to ensure peace and harmony. No sacrifice is too small for ones community.
“I pledge my total commitment, loyalty, dedication and consistency to our dear party, her leadership, stakeholder and all our lovers. Please don’t leave your son because our time is on the way and I pray we all be alive to witness it together.
“Thank you all for your time, energy and resources.”
