HON. MURAINA ENGAGED CONSTITUENTS TO GIVE STEWARDSHIP, PROMISED TO EXTEND DEVELOPMENTAL GESTURE TO OYSCATECH

Ibarapa Development Forum, a non governmental organization aimed at contributing to the development and progress course Ibarapa Community on Saturday, 29th January, 2022 conducted a virtual meeting with the Hon. Muraina Saubana Ajibola, member representing Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency at the green chamber of the national assembly.

The purpose of the meeting which was towards adequate and better political representation had people of Ibarapa seven communities and electorate in attendance. People across the zone engaged in series of discussions with the political office holder representing Ibarapa Central and North Consistuency on his obligations and performances in the last two years.

The virtual town hall meeting, which was robust, gave the constituents the opportunity to hear from their representative at the federal level.

Another unique thing was the colour of the attendees in attendance; there were successful Entrepreneur, Youths and Student leaders and Community leaders representatives and all major stakeholders that you will expect when discussing Community Development issues.

It was clear from the beginning that the town hall meeting would not be a talk shop.

All participants were tasked to come up with questions which the honorable member did not only highlight some challenges but also proffered solutions.

Muraina Ajibola, who is considered as one of the most vocal in the National assembly from Oyo State, highlited some of his motions and bills on the floor of the assembly which according to him will bring speedy development to the entire Ibarapa Community.

According to the third term lawmaker, my motions include the need to investigate incessant kidnapping, fire disasters and killing of Oko Oloyun and that singular reason spur the upgrading the police station to divisional police headquarters which has been captured in the year 2022 budget, I also raised motion on the need to investigate the killing of Dr Fatai Aborode who was gruesomely murder in Igangan in December 2020 on his coming home from farm. Also a motion urging Independent national Electoral Commission to create eight more state constituencies in Oyo State etc.

My bills included upgrading of Oyo State College of Agriculture to Federal college of Agriculture and Technology Igboora, establishment of Federal University of Technology, Igangan, establishment of Federal college of Education, Tapa, Federal Polytechnic, Ayete, Federal college of Education, Idere and Federal Medical Center, Igboora.

When asked about the possibility of final implementation of the bills, Muraina said for everything it is God but ours is to propose, you will notice other consistuencies too are asking for similar things, I have made my Consistuency to join the league and lot of these bills awaiting presidential assent on daily basis, so let continue and let hope by the special grace of God they might not be implemented immediately but for the opportune time because the foundation has been laid already. I have spent so many energy, money and other resources on them.

When asked about issues sorrounding development of the only Tertiary Institution in his constituent, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, he disclosed that during his second term as Federal lawmaker, he wanted to install solar lights in the school for the benefits of the Students and Staffs but was stopped by the management of the school because he belongs to the Peoples democratic party and the then executive Governor Late Abiola Ajimoni belongs to other party. “I have of recent involved on how the Institution can access TETFUND, and will also try my best on other things that can progress the College”.
