Mr Ogunjobi Feranmi, a former National President of Federation of Ibarapa Students Association cum brother to a supposed beneficiary of Scholarship promised to some Students who emerge as winners in various categories during the second edition of Ibarapa Community Debate/ Quiz competition in January 2021 expressed his total dissatisfaction over non-payment of stipend promised by the Chairman of Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation, Engr (Dr.) Olusegun Okanlawon after several months of waiting in futile.

Ogunjobi told our correspondent in a chat this afternoon that, it’s quite appalling to see some youths who are generally assume to be the only hope of the nation engaging themselves in promise they won’t fulfil just for their selfish aim known to them.

He further stated that “Precious Ogunjobi is her blood sister who came out victoriously during the second edition of Ibarapa Community Debate held at Femadex Royal Garden, Idere and the management of Idere Update requested for her sister account number but the family members provide his account number (Ogunjobi Feranmi) to receive the money on behalf of her sister but it’s quite appalling and demeaning that since a year ago, the lady haven’t received a dime from the OOF. We don’t even know maybe the management of Idere Update has collected some money or OOF just decided not to fulfill their promise.

All efforts made to reach Engr. Olusegun Okanlawon by our correspondent was to no avail.

According to the Publisher of Idere Update, Mr Hassan Olaoniye, who told our correspondent that initially, the mistake was from Ogbeni Tolu Oduola, a correspondent of Idere Update who submitted the list of 6 students instead of 9 Students.

The mistake was rectified immediately but they were still not paid, Parents of the pupils are lamenting in town seriously threatening me to let the general public know that their children are not on anyone’s scholarship or else they’re going to disrupt Idere Update activities within the region but it only took wisdom and intervention of elders before we are able to organize the just concluded edition successfully.

He further stated that, one year after OOF pledge, some part of promises made by Dr. Olusegun Okanlawon has not been fulfilled, We have consulted the Chairman of OOF on different occasions but he kept promising without keeping to the promise.

According to Mr Sunday Yekini, a team member of Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation who spoke with our correspondent on telephone conversation stated that all he heard about the matter was that the management of OOF has paid school fees promised to six Students submitted to the organization by Idere Update and efforts to get the truth of the claim that the total number of the Students is nine against earlier submitted names is still on as he is still on the verge to confirm from the Chairman of Olusegun Okanlawon Foundation.

Another member of the OOF team, Mr Olaniyi Oludare told our correspondent that the management of the foundation has fulfilled their promises to the participants of the program, he acknowledged the fact that seasons after the management of Idere Update has cashed out payment for six Students is when they came back to claim stipends for other three Students which is unusual. But the truth of the matter is that Engr Olusegun Okanlawon did not make announcement during the program and it was after the Program he called the Publisher of Idere Update and make the promise of which he doesn’t know the total number of the Students that won the contest but only paid scholarship of the number of students submitted to him.
