PROFESSOR AKINOLA KEHINDE AKINLABI TO DELIVER LECTURE AT THE LAUNCHING OF ASAKO MAGAZINE

Professor Akinola Akinlabi is expected as the guest lecturer at the official launching of the maiden Asako Magazine and Online Radio tomorrow, Sunday 26th December, at the Teacher’s Plaza, Igboora by exactly 12pm. He is to do justice to a lecture titled :”IBARAPA IN THE PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE”.
Prof. Akinola Kehinde AKINLABI hailed from Igboora in Oyo State. He had his primary and secondary school educations at Igboora before proceeding to the then, Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic for his Advanced Level studies. He had his first degree from the University of Lagos in 1991 before proceeding to the University of Benin for his Masters in Industrial Chemistry and Business Administration in 1994 and 1996 respectively. He joined the services of the Rubber Research Institute of Nigeria (RRIN) in 1996 and it was from here that he proceeded to France for a course in Rubber Technology and later proceeded to the United Kingdom for another Masters in Polymer Science and Engineering and lastly his Doctorate Degree which he bagged in the year 2003 from the University of Benin. Prof. Akinola Akinlabi is a Professor of Industrial Chemistry with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), and the Deputy Dean of the College of Physical Sciences since 2016 to date. He had also served the University in various positions including the Head of his Department, Department of Chemistry. Currently, he is the Chairman of Ceremonial Committee of the University, FUNAAB

Prof. Akinlabi had demonstrated high exemplary leadership skills in various ways at his work and community. He had been tested and trusted in many ways, which accounted for why people give him responsibilities. He is well respected in the society as a result of his personality, his philantrophy and humbleness. He was the President of Rotary Club of Abeokuta between 2010-2011 RI year, he was District Governor Special Representative between 2013-2015 RI year, District Deputy Secretary in 2016-17 RI year and now serving his third year as an Assistant Governor for District 9110. He is still having responsibilities as one of the executive officers (Treasurer) of the University of Lagos, Alumni Association and also as the Secretary of the University of Benin Alumni Association, Ogun Chapters.

Prof. Akinlabi is well known professionally. He had graduated four (4) Doctorate students and supervised over 30 and 107 postgraduate and undergraduate students respectively. He is well published with over 71 articles in various local and international journals. His research works had earned him several recognitions all over the world and he has research teams in Europe, America, Africa and Asia that he visits regularly. He his a reviewer to some local and international journals and currently the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the Chemical Society of Nigeria. Prof. Akinlabi is also a member of some professional bodies like: (i) Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), (ii) Polymer Institute of Nigeria (PIN), (iii) Institute of Chartered Chemist of Nigeria (ICCON), (iv) American Chemical Society (ACS), (v) Institute of Materials London (IOM), (vi) Professional Association of Natural Rubber in Africa (ANRA).
Prof. Akinola K. AKINLABI is a socialite and interracts with everybody. His social life had earned him the enviable position of MAYOR of the Moonlight Section of Abeokuta Sports club. He had also held several positions in the club and currently Managing the Tombola Committee of Abeokuta Sports Club.
Prof. Akinlabi is very friendly, a leader worthy to be emulated, a disciplined man, trustworthy, an encourager, a motivator, a role model, a mentor with a large heart and a good listener that is always willing to help. He likes Playing lawn tennis, studying, traveling, meeting people and swimming. He is happily married to Mrs Jumoke Akinlabi and blessed with children, a boy (an Oxfordian) and a set of twin.
