2021 WORLD TWIN FESTIVAL BRIGHTEN IGBO-ORA COMMUNITY

The 2021 edition of the World Twins Festival was held on Saturday, October 09, 2021, at Igbo-Ora, Oyo State, amidst palpable excitement. It marked the fourth outing of the event which celebrates twin children every year. People’s from all part of the world converged to celebrate the uniqueness of multiple births in the community.

Reputed to be the most prominent among of places with multiple births, with record of twins or triplets in virtually every household in the community, the festival, which started in the year 2018 was organised to showcase the tourism and cultural potentials of the community, as well as attracts investors into the state and help get the town into Guinness Book of Record.

The highpoint of the yearly event was the presence of grand patron of the festival, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Dr. Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the entire Oyo Mesi and some traditional rulers from Oyo State including Okere of Saki, Onijo of Okeho, Onilala of Lanlate and other prominent personalities including third term Hon. Muraina Saubana representing Ibarapa Central and North Federal Constituency, Dr Amos Adepoju, Dr Anthony Adepoju, Madam Tina Ogundoyin.

At the event, which had several traditional rulers, business mogul, and other government dignitaries in attendance, some of the Important Personalties were presented with award plaques.

Some of the personalities present included Hon Muraina Saubana, Sarafa Olaoniye, Anthony Adepoju, Adegboyega Mr Musiliu Akinsanya amongst others.

In his goodwill message at the event, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa Central/Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, Ajibola Muraina, described the uniqueness of multiple births in Igboora as the blessings of God noting that it’s not about people’s perception that it is through foods they are consuming. He added, It was during his bill of establishment of Federal medical centre, Igboora that majority of Federal legislatures tends to get aware of the mysterious twins birth in the community, he further assured of Federal Government support and intervention soon.

According to Prince Akintayo Akinyemi who noted that Igboora people’s are still enjoying from the past glory of their forefathers, he added that they nourish twins here in Igboora and that’s why multiple births keep coming when other parts of the world see twins as abomination and kill them, our fathers keep worshipping them as deity, some usually says it’s through the foods we are taking but the reality is that we are eating the same food with other six towns that constituted Ibarapa, how come other towns doesn’t have such record, So it’s just God blessing.

In his brief Speech, Adejumobi Adebowale who represent Governor Oluseyi Makinde fecilitate with the people of Igboora on the 2021 edition of world twins festival and assured the people of the community his continuous support in ensuring rapid socio-economic development.  He added that Oyo State Government will leave no stone untouched in cultural and tourism aspects as discussed during the last State Executive bidding meeting and contain in the proposed next year 2022 budget and with that, next year edition will be more elaborate than this year.
